As we begin the month of June, the Church invites us to turn our attention to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The image of the Sacred Heart reminds us of something simple but profound: Jesus loves us. His heart burns with love for every person, and He desires to be close to us in our joys, struggles, and everyday moments.
For young children, this devotion can be introduced very simply: Jesus has a heart full of love, and He loves each of us more than we can imagine.

"Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." - Matthew 11:29

June: The Month of the Sacred Heart
Throughout June, Catholics honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus as a reminder of His mercy, compassion, and endless love.
When we look at images of the Sacred Heart, we often see:
- A heart surrounded by light
- Flames representing His burning love
- A crown of thorns reminding us of His sacrifice
- A cross showing His victory over sin and death
For children, you might simply say:
"Jesus' heart is full of love for you."
This month is a beautiful opportunity to help little ones grow in their friendship with Jesus.
Virtue to Notice: Love
Love means caring for others the way Jesus cares for us. The Sacred Heart reminds us that Jesus' love is patient, kind, forgiving, and always present.
Simple Faith Practice for Preschoolers:
This week, invite your child to place their hand over their heart and say:
"Jesus, thank You for loving me."
You might also ask:
- "Who can we love today?"
- "How can we show kindness like Jesus?"
Simple conversations help children connect faith to everyday life.
