Little Lessons 2025 Edition: Everything You Need to Know

Little Lessons 2025 Edition: Everything You Need to Know

The Little Lessons 2025 Edition is almost here—and it's the biggest update since our curriculum first launched! Whether you’re already part of the Little Lessons family or considering joining, this post explains clearly and practically what's changing, why it's improving, and how it benefits your family.

Why the 2025 Update Matters

Based directly on your feedback, we’ve refined Little Lessons to better meet your homeschooling needs. This update aims to:

  • Make the curriculum easier and smoother to use.

  • Enhance its beauty, polish, and professionalism.

  • Support families teaching multiple children simultaneously.

  • Provide more reusable activities year after year.

  • Integrate Bible, virtues, and catechism across all subjects.

  • Transition to a more user-friendly online platform.

Key Changes in the 2025 Edition

Expanding from 32 Weeks to 36 Weeks

Previously:

  • 4 Units, 8 weeks each (32 weeks total).

Now:

  • 4 Units, 9 weeks each (36 weeks total).

Each unit starts with an Intro & Prep Week, designed for:

  • Introducing letters associated with the unit.

  • Preparing printables and materials.

  • Offering an easier transition into new content.

Saints, Books, and Weekly Themes Unchanged

We’re keeping the beloved saints, books, and weekly themes from the 2023 version exactly the same. This continuity helps families build upon established rhythms, enhancing your family’s Catholic identity and connection to the curriculum.

Better Structure for Letter Introduction

In the original version, letters A–Z were introduced one at a time, spread out over the course of the year. While this worked well for letter recognition, it was a bit limiting for children who were ready to start blending sounds or building simple words.

In the updated version, letters are introduced in four sets—one at the beginning of each unit:

  • Unit 1: A–G

  • Unit 2: H–N

  • Unit 3: O–T

  • Unit 4: U–Z

Each week still highlights a featured letter through fun, hands-on activities. But now, during the first week of each unit, children are introduced to all the letters in that unit. This opens the door for families who are ready to start blending and reading to move forward naturally—especially since vowels are introduced right away in Unit 1!

That said, this doesn’t mean your child has to be ready for word blending from the start. If your little one is learning best by focusing on just one letter each week, that’s exactly what the curriculum is built for, too. 💛

It’s designed to follow more of a spiral approach—introducing, reviewing, and building on knowledge in layers—so you can go at the pace that fits your family. Whether you're moving slow and steady or your child is flying into phonics, Little Lessons is ready to support both paths.

More Activities, More Flexibility

The updated edition includes:

  • Expanded variety of play-based activities.

  • Purposefully reusable materials—including printables that can be used both within the curriculum and independently.

While the overall page count has increased to accommodate the added value, the structure is more flexible than ever. With the Lesson Guide and Printables now separated, families can more easily select what they need, when they need it. This allows you to:

  • Print selectively for multiple children without extra waste.

  • Reuse many of the materials year after year.

  • Customize your printing to your specific teaching pace and goals.

This new flexibility adds long-term value, helping you get more out of your materials while simplifying planning and prep.

You’ll also notice fewer word-for-word teaching scripts and more tools designed to help you confidently lead conversations with your child. These hand-on reusable printables are integrated across all subjects to make meaningful learning moments feel natural and engaging, even if you’re new to teaching.

New Structure: Lesson Guide + Printables Separated

One of the most highly requested updates from our Little Lessons community is finally here: the curriculum is now organized into two main parts—The Lesson Guide and The Printables.

This new structure is a game-changer for flexibility and usability. Here’s why:

  • Teach multiple children more easily: Use one guide for all and print individual activities per child as needed.

  • Save paper and ink: Selectively print only what you’ll use.

  • Keep organized: Easily separate lesson plans from printable activities in your binders or folders.

  • Reuse the guide year after year with fresh printable sets for each child.

This separation makes it easier to navigate, prep, and tailor your homeschool experience—especially for larger families or those planning to reuse the curriculum over time.
